Although no one can guarantee that a couple will definitely be successful in this quest, there are several habits that can be adopted to increase the likelihood of a positive outcome. An integral part of Sankofa's Healthy You, Healthy Baby program is the "Sankofa Discovery Process" which is a private one hour session during which we take the time and the care to help you analyze your past physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual life experiences in order to understand your current state of health and identify specific factors which need to be addressed in developing a personalized program that will be conducive to creating a Healthy You, a Healthy Pregnancy, and ultimately, a Healthy Baby.
This program will serve to educate you about the importance of meditation,prayer, affirmations, conscious breathing, diet, exercise, relaxation, and, comfort measures, and of course the basics of obstetrical procedures, labor, birth, and postpartum care for all in the new family unit. Components of the Program include a one hour private consultation, a prenatal education study kit (Work Book, Text Book, etc.) and 5 follow-up Prenatal coaching consultations (in person, via phone 0r mail) which address issues pertaining to Nutrition, Exercise, Meditational Breathing, Common Obstetrical Procedures during Labor and Birth, Comfort Measures, Postpartum Care, and More….

- Students are taught how to identify factors that can negatively affect their ability to become pregnant, carry a child to full term, and give birth to a healthy baby.
- Couples are taught how to improve their general health through nutrition, exercise, meditation, journaling, and conscious breathing, as a way of ensuring a positive outcome with regard to conception, pregnancy, labor and birth.
