Unlike many other Distance Learning Programs, Sankofa's Home Study Programs are Interactive and Holistic in Scope.   The course instructor is Dr. Michelle Gamble, an educator of more than 15 years, and a Board Certified Doctor of Naturology.  Naturology comes from the root word, nature, meaning “that which is lifelike, not artificial” and the suffix, ology, meaning “a branch of learning or science. Naturology is an innovative way of looking at health and wellness that incorporates many ancient healing traditions. One of the main principles of the Naturology philosophy is addressing the needs of the whole person: mind, body and spirit. .

At Sankofa, our fundamental philosophy is based upon trusting that within each person, when obstacles are removed, there is an innate ability to heal ourselves and adequately deal with all of life’s challenges. Therefore, there is much emphasis on self responsibility for personal health. The programs are designed for those who want to take control of their lives and their health. Each Interactive Online/Home Study Program consists of three main components.

• You can attend online classes and complete the reading and workbook assignments at your own pace in an environment of your choosing. Free introductory classes are periodically offered - Be sure to check the calendar for details.  All courses will incorporate lessons on nutrition, exercise, meditation and relaxation techniques that are applicable to all of life’s challenges.
• Personal Coaching sessions are also available to enable the student to address individual concerns and to get more comprehensive in depth understanding of the material covered during the classes.  The first coaching session incorporates a one hour personal “Sankofa Discovery Process” either in person or via telephone. During this session, we focus on assisting you in your quest to attain and maintain physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health by identifying the factors that could lead to conditions of “dis-ease”.
• Last, but not least, you can obtain continued support in actually executing your personal wellness plan for longer periods of time be participating in one of our Tree of life Programs. I will be available to you should you need additional information and/or support. You may even choose to continue your personal journey by visiting our facility or enrolling in one or more of our other programs.
